Zone 4 Regional Meeting (11th and 12th March 2008)

Hotel Grand Chancellor, 161 Cashel Street, Christchurch

The Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) will be holding a regional meeting for our crime prevention partners in Zone 4 (South Island ) in Christchurch on the 11th and 12th of March 2008

Invitation to attend

The CPU invites representatives from your Territorial Authority (TA) to attend this meeting and we attach an outline of the programme for the two days. We are happy to cover all costs associated with attending (including travel to and from Christchurch) for two council representatives to attend for both days (with accommodation included where required).

The programme will include information about the 'Small Grants' funding round which is planned for March/April this year, crime prevention/reduction policy work currently being undertaken at the Ministry and will be introduced to CPU's new approach to graffiti vandalism and tagging - which is affecting many communities nationally.

There will also be time for networking, share information on crime prevention initiatives that are working well and challenges faced, and to explore options for ongoing support for TAs that work in partnership with the Crime Prevention Unit.

Please note that the 11th March afternoon session will focus on addressing graffiti vandalism and tagging. If relevant staff members at your council have a particular interest in, or are currently carrying out anti-tagging and graffiti vandalism initiatives in your area, (or can identify potential partners to undertake this work), an invitation is extended to these people (council and other) to attend this session.

Who would benefit from attending the meeting?

The CPU strongly advises your council to send 2 representatives working in different roles, ie ideally one who works operationally and another involved in relevant crime and safety policy and/or strategic development.

For further information

The CPU will post further information on the Zone 4 regional meeting, including the registration form by 27 February on our website at www.justice.govt.nz/cpu

We look forward to your support in ensuring that relevant staff from your council attend the meeting and to working together with crime prevention partners.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Brecht
Operations Manager
