Crime Prevention Unit"Restorative Justice in Family Violence: Raising Awareness of the Issues"SeminarJune 2007 Registration Form (Adobe Acrobat v5 30KB) The Crime Prevention Unit - Restorative Justice will be running two seminars in June. The seminars will be run over two days and will be held at Auckland 11th – 12th June and Rotorua 14th – 15th June Each Restorative Justice Service Provider will be able to nominate two attendees. The CPU has commissioned Ken McMaster to facilitate these seminars. Ken has a twenty-five year history working at the cutting edge of intervention with men who are violent and sexually abusive. He is known for his innovative practice and ability to translate theory into practice. He has been both a member and Chair of the Family Violence Advisory Committee/ Te Rangai Whiriwhiri Tukinotanga a-Whanau. This committee was established to provide the Ministers of Social Services and Employment with independent policy advice on government initiatives in family violence. Ken was also a founding member of the National Network of Stopping Violence Services/Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Putanga and is a past Chair. Ken was responsible for writing the Respondent Programme Regulations for the Domestic Violence Act (1995). In addition, he has worked as a part-time lecturer in Social Work at Canterbury University and is now involved full-time with HMA as manager, writer of materials and principal trainer. Ken was recently appointed to the Domestic Violence Act Approvals Panel for the Ministry of Justice. The seminars will be centred around the following:

Each service provider will be invited to give a ten minute overview of who they are and the type of Restorative Justice they deliver. They will be asked to highlight three areas of good practice within their service and one area where they believe improvement is needed.
