Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories
The FATF has a mechanism to identify non-cooperative countries and territories
(NCCTs) - that is, countries and territories that have critical weaknesses in their
AML/CFT systems and which serve as obstacles to international co-operation.
In 2000 there were a number of countries and territories on the list, but through
the cooperative efforts of FATF and APG, members on the list have been reduced to
just one: Myanmar. At each FATF Plenary meeting, the situation of listed countries
is reviewed. The FATF also closely monitors developments in countries and
territories that have been removed from the list. |
