Payment of Fines

There are a number of different ways to pay your fine:

  • On the Internet at www.fines.govt.nz

Fines On-Line allows you to check if you've got a fine, pay it on-line, learn about your rights and obligations, order publications, and get help with inquiries about fines.
  • By Post: send a cheque to Courts Processing Centre, PO Box 3535, Wellington. Please include your payment advice slip or clearly print your name and FCN or PPNnumber on the cheque
  • By BillPay at any NZ Post Shop or Books & More outlet. You must have your payment advice slip available in order to pay your fine
  • By Phone: call 0800 658 952 and have your credit card details available
  • At any District Court: you can pay by cash, cheque, EFT-POS, and, at many Courts, by credit card.

If you can’t pay the full amount of the fine :

The Collections Unit has the discretion to grant an extension of time to pay a fine. If you cannot pay the full amount, discuss your situation with the Collections Unit fines staff at any District Court, or call the Collections Unit payment centre on 0800 408 409. They may be able to help you.
